Spotlight on #DotScot -

When Scottish artist, S.G.Owen, decided to get a website, her first choice was to do it with a DotScot domain from Calico. S.G. chose .scot because it is the Geo Top Level Domain for Scotland and Scottish culture, so it was a natural fit for all of the art work offered for sale on the website

S.G. said “Going dot-scot turned out to be a great thing to do because not only did it emphasise my Scottishness, it was also a good business decision because within 24 hours of our launch, my website started delivering sales of paintings, painted stones and painted reclaimed slates”.

S.G.Owen is an untrained, spontaneous Scottish artist, who is using her dot-scot website to showcase over 170 exuberant pieces. This sumptuous collection of lush paintings, painted stones and painted reclaimed slates can be viewed and bought direct from the artist via this website and

After living in Denmark, Wales, Spain, the USA, and London, S.G. moved home to live in Argyll in the west of Scotland. An 'outsider artist', S.G. started painting, drawing, and crocheting. When people asked to buy the art S.G. started believing that, as an untrained artist, living through art as well as for art could be a reality.  Besides painting on canvas, S.G. also hunts for evocative rocks on the beach and paints those along with antique recycled Victorian slate.

Main influencers are the flora and fauna of Scotland, travels, neurodiversity, feminism, the body, nature. the work of Kahlo, Rousseau, Hockney, Danny Gretscher, Billy Childish, John McKie and Beryl Cook. “Yayoi Kusama is pretty much my Higher Power!” S.G. said with a wee chuckle.

S.G.Owen art has been bought widely and displayed in gardens and on walls in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Canada, the USA, Sweden, and Australia. And a lot of people have said nice things about the work; you can find their nice words on the S.G. Owen Reviews page.

The website was designed and built by Craig Coultman-Smith using the Spanglefish3 CMS.
